Limantour was an investor and stockholder in a number of corporations covering the industrial, banking, and transportation sectors of the Mexican economy at the beginning of the 20th century, during the presidency of Porfirio Díaz. Educated at the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria and the Escuela Nacional de Jurisprudencia, from which he received his law degree in 1875.
